 PROTECTION OF LANDSCAPE DURING CONSTRUCTION

 Pre-Construction Measures :
• Timing of construction - Construction should we started in dry weather period instead of wet weather period to prevent soil from
soil erosion.

• Preservation of existing vegetation – Damage to roots shall be prevented during trenching, placing backfill, driving or parking
heavy equipment, dumping of trash, and other materials.

Trees shall not be used for support.

• Staging area – Don’t use landscape area as a staging area.

• Preservation of top soil - Cover the reserved soil with a tarp for a short-term project.

Install plants as soon as possible and top with mulch to prevent the soil from washing or blowing away.

Schedule your building project for your area's driest season.

• Spill prevention and control – to prevent the landscape by spilling the contaminated materials and hazardous waste

 Measures during Construction :

• Sedimentation basins – A temporary dam or basin constructed to store water for
construction activities.

• Contour trenching - The rain water does not immediately run off the hill,
Water does not evaporate uselessly.
The water balance is enhanced.
landscape do not suffer later on from water shortage.

• Mulching - In addition to stabilizing soils, mulching will reduce the stormwater

runoff over an area.
 SOIL WATER CONSERVATION
 Vegetation Measures :
• Topsoil laying- Loss of topsoil can be prevented by preventing deforestation, preventing excessive gazing of small plants and grasses, and by
preventing plantation and increasing vegetational cover

• Planting /Vegetation cover – The most effective way to prevent soil erosion, to prevent planting.

 Stormwater Management and Filtration Techniques :

• Rain Water Harvesting Structures in Urban Environment - Water harvesting refers to the collection and storage of rainwater.

• Structures for Rain Water Harvesting and Soil and Water Conservation– Infiltration techniques

 Conservation and reuse of water for irrigation :
