GLOSSARY

Use these terms and definitions to understand concepts taught in the


course.

Term Definition

Bias A prejudice in favor or against something or someone when


compared to another; an inclination to think one way about a
group of people or individual.

Unconscious The attitudes or stereotypes that affect our views, our actions,
bias and our decision-making ability; an automatically-activated brain
process that affects how people think.

Attribute The individual traits that combine to make individuals unique, like
gender, hair color, and ethnicity.

Belonging Feeling connected, accepted & valued by others for who you are.

Psychological Feeling safe and feeling comfortable expressing your thoughts,


Safety ideas and even your concerns, without the fear of
embarrassment, rejection or punishment.
