Farm and home visit


It is a direct , face- to- face contact by the extension agent with the
farmer or homemaker at their farm or home for extension work.
Objective
 To gain confidence of farmers.
 To advice in solving specific problems.
 Firsthand information on matters related to farm and home.
 To sustain interest.
Farmer’s call
Call made by farmer at the working place of extension agent for
obtaining information and assistance.
Objective
 Quick solution to problems related with farm.
 To enable farmer to bring specimens for identification of a problem.
 To ensure timely supply of inputs and services.
 To act as a reminder for extension agent.
Personal letter
Written by the extension agent to a particular farmer in connection with
extension work.
Objective
 To answer queries related to problems of farm and home.
 To send information or seek cooperation on important extension
activities.
Adaptive or Minikit Trial
Method of determining the suitability or otherwise of a new practice in
farmer’s situation. This is an on- farm participatory technology
development process in which farmer’s choice and opinion about the
practice is very important.
Objective
 To test a new practice out of the resources, constraints and abilities
of the farmer.
 To find out benefits of new practice over the old one.
 To build up confidence of extension agents , research workers and
farmers.
Farm clinic
It is a facility developed and extended to farmers for diagnosis and
treatment of farm problems and to provide some specialist advice to
individual farmers.
