Ic=Ihc+Ico.
Again, Ic=aIE+Ico ( where Ihc=aIE )
Cases For Emitter Section
IhE :- the current following due to movement of holes from emitter to base. IhE :- the current following due to the movement of holes from base to emitter.
IeE :- the current following due to the movement of electrons from base to IeE :- the current following due to the movement of electrons from emitter to
emitter. base.
Cases for Collector Section
• IhCO :- The current due to the flow of holes from base to collector. • IhCO :- The current due to flow of holes from collector to base.
• IeCO :- The current due to the flow of electrons from collector to • IeCO :- The current due to the flow of electrons from base to
base. Collector.
DEFINITIONS:-
• IB = The current following in the base section.
• IC = The current following in the collector section.
• IE = The current following in the emitter section.
• ICO = The reverse saturation current following in the collector section as it is reversed biased.
• So, ICO = IhCO + IeCO.
• IC = ICO + IhC.
• Also , IC = ICO + aIE.
• Where , a = the fraction of current that reaches at collector section after facing recombination
in the base section.
• So , IhC = aIE ( from above equations ).
• Finally , IE = IB + IC ( from the diagram ).
PARAMETERS RELATED TO
CURRENT COMPONENTS :-
• Emitter Efficiency ( y ) = current of injected carriers at emitter section
Total Emitter Current
= IhE / IhE + IeE
= IhE / IE
this is also known as injection efficiency.
• Transport Factor ( B ) = current of injected carriers at collector section
current of injected carriers at emitter section
= IhC / IhE
• Current gain ( a ) = IC / IE ( as IC = aIE ) , if ICO << IhC
