 It is an important objective of
communication. It comprises of personal
opinions and is subjective.
 It usually flows horizontally or
downwards. For example expert
advice ,the board of directors advising
one another on some policy matter.
 It is solely in the hands of the recipient
to buy the advice given to him.
Ways to make advice effective
 Advice should be given in the receiver's
interest. It should be useful to the
receiver.
 Advice should be both individual as well
as work-oriented.
 Advice should not make the receiver feel
inferior.
 Advice should be given in a right tone.

 Employees should be encouraged to
give suggestions.
 Suggestion boxes should be installed so
as to get anonymous suggestions.
 Surveys should be conducted so as to
enhance better understanding.
Persuasion
 It simply means to influence a person’s
feelings or beliefs.
 To persuade a person there is a need of
great skill. One has to be indirect and
suggestive. For example the sales man
often persuade customers to buy their
products
Ways of persuasion
 Scrutinizing the situation and time.
 Convincing the receiver by all your
positive points.
 Avoid negative parts as far as possible.
 The communicator should discuss all
issues from the receiver’s point of view.
