Cultural Differences
•What are some cultural differences
between Asia and America? Can you
think of any more?
AMERICA ASIA
- A lot of families have pets -Pet ownership is increasing but
less common
-Business people greet with a
handshake
-People are more independent in the
West.
For example, after high school,
students go to univertsity away from
home.

- It’s less common to bring back


souveniers.
Concept Of Culture
• Culture thus refers to a human-made environment which
includes all the material and nonmaterial products of
group life that are transmitted from one generation to the
next. These may be transmitted through symbols,
constituting the distinctive achievements of human
groups, including their embodiment as artefacts.
Aspects Of Culture
LANGUAGE - Mother tongue and Dialect
ACTIONS - Regime, Justice, Organization, Work,
Religion, Techniques, Science, Art-

IDENTITY - Self-consciousness, self-esteem


VALIDITY -values, opinions, laws, metaphors,
meanings
HISTORY -time experience, milestone, myths
SPACE -spatial experience, functional spaces,
living space
EXPERIENCE -rituals, customs, practices
