NEWTON’S THIRD LAW OF

MOTION:
LAW OF INTERACTION

Prepared by: Ms. Diana E. Bagay

Science Teacher
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

know what is the law of interaction;

infer that when a body exerts a force on another, an equal

amount of force is exerted back on it; and

relate the law of interaction to the first and second law of

motion.

Game!!!
Push Ko To!
REMEMBER AND FOLLOW THE FF. RULES AND
DIRECTIONS:
1. Everybody is allow to try this at home.
2. Stretch your arms.
3. Find a wall that is near to you.
4. Push your hands against the wall.
5. Try your best to exert your energy in pushing while saying
or shouting, “Push Ko To!”
How was the feeling of it?

Does pushing a wall shows an action of interaction?

Why and why not?
Newton’s Third Law: Law of
Interaction
 States that, “For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction.”
 For every force acting on an object, there is an equal force acting in the opposite
direction.

=- Figure 1.1 Illustrating the Law of Interaction

Example: Tug of war

Observe Figure 1.1. Two teams are playing tug
of war. They are both exerting equal forces on the
rope in opposite directions. These balanced forces
result to no change of motion. Suppose one of the
teams lessens the force momentarily, there will be
an unbalanced force that will cause that team to
move towards the team that exerts a greater force.
