GENERAL MECHANICS
GENERAL MECHANICS

1. Each team shall compose of one student per


grade level (Grade 4-6) for the Elementary,
(Grade 7-10) for JHS and 2 grade 11 students for
SHS shall represent each school who will
compete in the district/cluster level qualifying
round.
2. The coverage of the contest is the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELC) for Grade 4-6 for
the elementary, Grades 7-10 for the JHS and
General Mathematics for Grade 11 for SHS
focusing on topics of the First and Second
Quarter only.

3. The qualifiers of the SDO Mathanong Challenge


are NOT entitled to join the Mathalino Quiz Bee
Relay.

4. The contestants are required to provide two cell


phone cameras, one must be placed in front and
the other is at the back of the participants during
the contest. The top three (3) schools with the
combined points shall automatically be the First,
Second and Third Place winners.

5. The top three (3) schools with the combined


points shall automatically be the First, Second
and Third Place winners.

6. The winners shall receive a certificate of


recognition and while the non-winners shall
receive certificate of participation.
QUALIFYING ROUND

(District/Cluster Level)

1. The Qualifying round will be held via ZOOM.


Each team will be prompted to breakout session
rooms. The link where the questions intended
for the contestants shall be sent by the category
in-charge.
2. The contest shall be conducted into three (3)
rounds:
EASY – Individual Round
AVERAGE – Team Round
DIFFICULT – Team Relay
QUALIFYING ROUND

3. The qualifying round is to be done simultaneously for
Elementary, JHS and SHS.
4. There is SEMI-FINAL round for Elementary (Top 10
in all district).
5. One team (grade 4, 5 and 6) for the elementary. The
team members for the JHS will be divided into two
(Grade 7and 8; Grade 9 and 10) and one team (2
grade11) for SHS.
6. The team with the highest scores in the Elementary,
Junior High School and Senior High School shall be
the winners and qualifiers in the Final Round.
FINAL ROUND
FINAL ROUND

1. The Final round will be held via ZOOM. Each team


will be prompted to breakout session rooms. The
link where the questions intended for the
contestants shall be sent by the category in-charge.

2. The contest shall be conducted into three 


categories.

Elementary, JHS and SHS.

5. One team (grade 4, 5 and 6) for the elementary. The


team members for the JHS will be divided into two
subgroups (Grade 7and 8; Grade 9 and 10) and one
team (2 grade11) for SHS.

6. The team with the highest scores in the Elementary,


Junior High School and Senior High School will be
declared as Champion. The next two highest scoring
contestants shall be declared First and Second
Runners up respectively.

1. The Use of laptop or desktop is required. Students


will be required to share their screens during the
Relay and Individual Rounds, and tablets and
mobile phones may not work.
2. To maintain the integrity of the competition, make
sure that you have a working microphone and
camera at all times.

3. No other technology such as calculators, cellphones


and tablets may be used or visible during the
competition.

4. There should be no other open programs in your


device aside from the browser where you will access the
questions and answer sheets. No unrelated tabs must
be open in your browser.

6. Only clean sheets of paper may be used for solving.

7. There will be a mock competition scheduled on April


26, 2022 via Zoom. The links to the competition will be
sent through your cluster coordinator. DO NOT SHARE
the links to anyone.

8. The competition will be on April 27, 2022 via Zoom.


The links to the contest files will be sent separately. DO
NOT SHARE the links to anyone.

Individual Round 1

1. Consists of 15 questions with a time limit of 20


minutes.
2. Communication with other team members will not
be allowed.
3. All participants must share their screen at all
times.
4. The timer starts once the proctor sends the
password to open the questionnaire.

5. The proctor will give a 3-minute warning.

6. At the end of the round, you must submit


the answer in the Individual Round 1 Google
Form.

7. The team must maintain a paper backup of


their answers in case of protests regarding
the online submissions.

1. The Team Round consists of 15 questions and each


team will have 30 minutes to solve the questions.

2. You may communicate with your teammates via


audio or Zoom chat only.

3. You may assign a captain among yourselves. The


captain will be allowed to share their screen and use
the Zoom whiteboard to monitor the team's answers
in the Team Round. The captain can also be the one
to submit the answer in the Google Form so that
your whole team can verify the answers.

4. The timer starts once the proctor sends the


password to open the questionnaire.

5. The proctor will give a 5-minute warning.

6. At the end of the round, only one member must


submit the answer in the Team Round Google Form.

7. The team must maintain a paper backup of their


answers in case of protests regarding the online
submissions.

1. The Relay Round is composed of 5 sets, and each


subgroup will have 6 minutes to answer each set.

2. First question is to be answered by grade 4


participant, while second question is to be answered
by grade 5 participant and the third question is to
be answered by grade 6 participant.

3. The answer to the first question will be used to


solve the second question and the answer to the
second question will be used to solve the third
question.

4. The answer to each question will be send thru


private chat in the zoom.
5. Aside from the answer submission in chat, you are
not allowed to communicate with your team during
the Relay Round.
6. Students in Grade 4 and 5 may submit their
answers in chat only once, but they must not
submit their solutions or the problem itself.
7. Final answers will still be submitted in the Google
form.
8. All students must share their screens at all times.

11.At the end of the round, only the Grade 6 student


must submit the answer in the Google Form. Make
sure that you are submitting in the correct Relay
Round.

the student in Grade 8 and 10 his/her team
respectively.

1. The Relay Round is composed of 5 sets, and each


group will have 6 minutes to answer each set.

2. Each team is must appoint student 1 and student 2.

3. The answer to the first question (referred to as "the


number you will receive" or TNYWR) will be used to
solve the second question.

4. Prior to the start of the Relay Round, the Student 1


must create a New Class in https://whiteboard.fi/ ,
and provide the class link to the Student 2.

5. Aside from the answer submission in whiteboard.fi,


you are not allowed to communicate with your team
during the Relay Round.

multiple items, but they must not submit their
solutions or the problem itself.
