About the 19th Century


19th century is normally called the Victorian period because Queen Victoria ruled
the United Kingdom.
British empire was enlarged to include Canada, Australia , New Zealand , Hong
Kong , Singapore , South Africa ,Kenya, And India.
Britain became one of the first urban society in the world. By 1851 most of the
villagers had left their villages and moved to the cities in search of work in the
factories.
Because of this internal migration in which most of the peasants left their lands,
their lands were turned into wastelands
London became one of the largest industrial cities in the world
