Interpreting Beginning of School Year Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment (Bosy Crla) Results
The BoSY CRLA determines students’ level of mastery of previous grade level reading concepts and skills, with focus on
alphabet knowledge and decoding, and their readiness to learn new reading concepts and skills for their current grade
level.
This is ideally administered within the first month of the school year for immediate intervention, but results can provide
useful data all throughout the year.
Reading Profiles
• Grade Ready – student has mastered previous grade level reading conceps and skills and ready to learn current level
reading concepts and skills
• Light Refresher – student has a firm grasp of previous grade level reading concepts and skills, need practice for
accuracy
• Moderate Refresher – student has a grasp of previous grade level reading concepts and skills, but need a lot of
practice and guidance
• Full Refresher – student needs to be retaught previous grade level reading concepts and skills
EoSY CRLA: End of School Year CRLA 3
The EoSY CRLA determines level of mastery of current grade level reading standards. It
includes fluency and comprehension.
