Green Building
Green building is the act of creating designs and
using measures that are environmentally capable
and is efficient in resource-wise all through a
structure’s life-cycle from siting to plan, development,
operation, support, maintenance, deconstruction and
renovation.
This practice extends and supplements the
traditional structure design concerns of economy,
utility, durability, and comfort. Green building is also
known for a maintainable and high performance
building.
Impacts of Built Environment
Aspects of Built Consumption Environmental Ultimate

• Construction • Materials • Water Health
• Operation • Natural pollution • Environment

• Noise
By using green buildings, the overall impact of the built
environment stated above on human health and natural
environment can be reduced. Through this, we can achieve
positive effects by:

⬩ Efficiently using energy, materials, and other resources

⬩ Protecting occupant health and improving employee
productivity
⬩ Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation
Green buildings may incorporate sustainable materials
in their development like reused and recycled materials or
renewable resources. Green buildings can also establish
healthy indoor environments throughout the building with
minimal pollutants and harmful environmental effects like
reducing product emissions. It can also feature landscaping
that lessens water utilization, for example, utilizing local
plants that survive without using extra watering on them.
Conclusion

There are a number of reasons to

build green, which includes
environmental, economic, and social
benefits.
Environmental Benefits:

⬩ Enhance and protect biodiversity and biological

systems
⬩ Improve air and water quality
⬩ Reduce waste streams
⬩ Conserve and restore natural resources
Economic Benefits:

⬩ Reduce working expenses

⬩ Expand and create services and markets that
produce green products
⬩ Improve occupant productivity
⬩ Optimize life-cycle economic performance
Social Benefits:

⬩ Enhance people’s health and comfort

⬩ Improve aesthetic qualities
⬩ Minimize strain on local infrastructure
⬩ Improve life quality
