Ronaldo de Assis
Moreira was born on
March 21, 1980, in Porto
Alegre, Brazil.
From the age of twelve
until his beginnings in
professional football, he
obtained almost all the
titles that a Brazilian
player could aspire to.
He started the season in
the under 13
championship of
Alegrete in 92'.
Ronaldinho made his debut at just 16 years old
in the first team of the Gremio and played for his
youth there, where his brother also played, who
later suffered a serious injury that marginalized
him from football and sport in general. He was
proclaimed top scorer in the Youth Soccer World
Cup in 1997, at the young age of 17, although
they were unable to win the title. At that time,
PSV Eindhoven made an offer of 7 million euros
for the young Ronaldinho.
Finally, at the age of 19, he is
summoned to fulfill his dream of
playing for his country. His debut in the
Brazilian national team was on June
26, 1999, in the match that Brazil won
against Latvia by 3-0. In this national
team, he shared locker rooms with
great players such as Ronaldo,
Romario and Rivaldo. Already for 2001
he negotiated with the French PSG,
making his debut against Auxerre.
However, in the 2 years he was in the
French team, he failed to obtain any
title.
In the summer of 2003, PSG
received offers from Manchester
United, Real Madrid and Barcelona,
​but it was the latter who kept the
pass for the Brazilian star, for the
sum of 25 million euros. He made
his Barça debut against Athletic in a
difficult game. The following season
he played an excellent match in the
Spanish superc lásico, against Real
Madrid, in which the azulgrana team
won 3-0 with 2 goals from
Ronaldinho. Even Diego Maradona
himself praised him saying that he
was a great international soccer
player.
