DESCRIPTION:
Takaaki kajita is a Japanese phisicist Known by experiments for the study and analysis of
neutrinos (subatomical particles of the fermionical tipe, without charge and espin1/2).
He was born on 9th March in 1959 in Higashimatsuyama, Prefecture of Saitama, Japan.
UNIVERSITY TRAVEL:
He studied in the Saitama’s University where he graduated in 1981; he received it’s doctorate
in 1986 by the Tokio’s University. In 1988 he jointed to the Institute for the Investigation of
Cosmical Radiation of the Tokio’s University, where he was assistant teacher in 1992 and from
1999.
2015 NOBEL PRIZE OF PHYSICS:
In 2015 he was awarded with the Nobel Prize of Physics together with the Canadian physicist
Arthur B.McDonald by the discovery of neutrino oscillations, wich sows that neutrinos have
mass. The finding of both physicists has changed our understanding of the deeper functioning
of matter and can be crucial to our view of the universe, reviewed the Swedish Academy of
Sciences.
AWARDS:
• 1989 - With other members of the kamiokande received the Bruno Rossi award and the
Panofsky award.
• 1987 - Asahi Award, also as part of the Kamiokande and in 1999 as part of the Super
Kamiokande
• 1999 - Nishina Memorial Prize.
• 2002 - Panofsky Award.
• 2013 - Julius Wess 2 Award.
• 2015 - Nobel Prize in Physics in conjunction with the Canadian Arthur B. McDonald.
• 2016 - Fundamental Physics Award.
WORKING IN:

Takaaki Kajita works on the Super Kamiokande experiment that discovered the defunction of
neutrinos MUVM in atmospheric neutrinos, a phenomenon they called "anomaly of
atmospheric neutrinos”. In 1999 he observed the oscillation of neutrinos thanks to the Super
Kamiokande, a huge pool with 50,000 tons of water built a kilometer underground in Japan.
