Reading Month 2021 English
Reading Month 2021 English
“The more you read the more things you will know. The more
that you learn the more places that you will go.- Dr. Seuss”. This is
the line that fits the superb celebration of BERNABE Q. BIAGTAN
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL as it celebrates National Reading Month
in November 2021 despite the devastated aftermath brought by the
COVID-19.
During the National Reading Month, DepEd enjoins schools
to conduct Reading Activities at home or via online to foster a
reading culture among pupils.
Also being promoted is the Drop Everything and Read
(DEAR) project, a 15-to-20-minute daily activity devoted to reading
a book or any reading materials available at home with family or
read it yourself. There is also the Shared Reading project (Big
Brother or Sister / Kapatid Ko, Sagot Ko), an activity wherein older
students or independent readers teach pupils who are at the
frustration reading or non-reading level.
Teachers brought the BQB E/S community to the
magical world of reading as they celebrated National Reading
Month in November, an event declared by the Department of
Education (DepEd) under its Memorandum No. 244 . It held
programs to culminate the celebration and to achieve its goals
which are to deepen the appreciation for books, exhibit the writing
and visual art skills, expand students’ vocabulary, encourage
accurate word usage, develop skill in oral language and all
expressive mechanisms (voice and bodily expressions), promote
teacher, students, and community relations and camaraderie, and
gear up the students with values and meaningful life lessons.
Many activities were done to strengthen students reading
ability to become productive citizens of the country, and fruitful
intellectual consumers of Bernabe Q. Biagtan Elementary School.
Those were made into reality through the passion and
determination of the Teaching Force led by their head teacher OIC,
Dr. Erna C. Nebran and School English coordinator Maria
Madonna Y. Bucao.
