Noun Clause and Adjective Clause

What is Clause?
 A clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a predicate
 Types of clauses :

1. Independent clause; the clause that express a complete idea


Ex: - I learn English
- My mother is nice
2. Dependent Clause; (subordinate clauses) is the clause that
cannot express a complete idea
Ex: - When I meet you, I am very happy
- She wants to travel the world and see wonderful sights.
Dependent clauses can be mainly divided into three
categories based on their functions: noun clauses,
adjective clauses, and adverbial clauses

 Noun clauses act as nouns 


 Adjective Clause act as adjectives
 Adverbial Clause act as adverbs
What is Noun Clause?
A noun clause can be defined as a
dependent clause that acts as a noun. A A noun clause can function as:
noun clause cannot stand alone as a
sentence because it cannot express a
complete thought. Noun phrases generally  Subject
begin with words such as how, that, what,
whatever, when, where, whether, which,
 Subject Complement
whichever, who, whoever, whom, whomever,
and why.

 Object Compliment

 Appositive
Noun functions as:
 Subject
Ex: Wherever you go I’ll be right here waiting for you
 Subject Complement
Ex:The problem is that you never think before you do.
 Direct Object
Ex: We always respect what my mother said.
 Object Compliment
Ex: You may keep in touch with me whenever you want
 Appositive
Ex: The feedback from my teacher, that we revised the task, disappoints me.
What is Adjective Clause

 Adjective clauses, or relative clauses, are groups of words that


contain a subject and a verb and provide further description. They
modify nouns and pronouns, providing a description or
information. 
 Ex:
1. Students who study hard get good score.
2. The mountain where the climber was being searched had a dense forest.
What is the main difference between Noun
