Air pollution

Air pollution

 Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or

outdoor environment by any chemical, physical
or biological agent that modifies the natural
characteristics of the atmosphere. Household
combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial
facilities and forest fires are common sources of
air pollution.
Classification of pollutant

 Air pollutants are classified as primary pollutants and

secondary pollutants. (ii) Secondary air pollutants are
formed because of reactions between primary pollutants
and other elements in the atmosphere, such as the ozone.
Control of air pollution

 Using public transports. ...

 Turn off the lights when not in use. ...
 Recycle and Reuse. ...
 No to plastic bags. ...
 Reduction of forest fires and smoking. ...
 Use of fans instead of Air Conditioner. ...
 Use filters for chimneys. ...
 Avoid usage of cracker
Gravity settling chambers

 Gravity settling chambers are the oldest and simplest means of removing

large diameter suspended particles from a gas. High-efficiency settling
chambers are often fitted with baffles or deflectors to change the gas flow
direction.
cyclone separator

 A cyclone separator, also called a cyclonic dust collector, is a widely used air
pollution control device that cleanses flue gases of particulate matter
before such gases exit into the atmosphere. It's a method of collecting up to
99% of airborne waste in an easy-to-empty container beneath the cyclone.
Wet Scrubbers

 Wet Scrubbers are effective air pollution control devices for removing
particles and/or gases from industrial exhaust streams. A Wet Scrubber
operates by introducing the dirty gas stream with a scrubbing liquid – typically
water. Particulate or gases are collected in the scrubbing liquid. Wet
Scrubbers are generally the most appropriate air pollution control device for
collecting both par-ticulate and gas in a single system.
 Pollution Systems offers a variety of Wet Scrubber systems specifically
designed for your process application. Many important operating variables are
considered when evaluating the size and type of scrubber for any specific
application, and your deadline is always a factor in our responsiveness
