Design of a Buck reducer

converter for turning on LED

lights by means of a 555
Author : Manolo Muñoz

industrial electrical circuits

Objectives

 perform the design and simulation of a switching power supply. In

addition, this source will cause the lighting of a strip of LEDs that
have certain technical characteristics.

 Analyze the dc dc conversion system to find the best components

with research and application of formulas.

 Check that the system is reliable and functional for said problem and
can be marketed.
converter design

 It is necessary that from a 12v source we have a 6v output

with regulation.

 For this, the duty cycle will be manipulated without affecting

the integrated 555

 It will work at a frequency of 10 khz

Equations

 Vo = k Vs

 6 = 0,5 * 12

 L=

 L=

 L min =0,12uH
 Inductancia utilizada

L=1,2uH (comerciable)

C = propuesto en la tesis 2200uf

C = utilizado en el proyecto 10uf

Conclusiones

 The prototype of the system was carried out in more than one simulator and in all of them it
ended successfully and the required voltage came out, in addition the circuit was implemented.

 It was found that the best components for the system were an inductance of 1.2uf, a capacitance
of 10uf, a frequency of 10k hz, the integrated 555, a mosfet z44n, and an integrated 7809.

 In the implementation it was found that the circuit works unfortunately, it is very robust, however
it has little cost since the pwm signal is made with an integrated 555 and not with a pic, reducing
the cost by almost half.
