Planning: Cover page

First draft
For the first draft of my
magazine layout, i
envisioned the model in
the centre of the page with
a Huge Magazine title in
front of her. The colour of
the font would be a bright
orange.
Second Draft
I had rejected the first draft
as i felt that the model’s
clothing would be hidden by
the title, the free space at
the top would look odd and
the colour of the title would
be an eyesore. I therefore
made another sketch. The
model is still placed at the
centre. However, she will be
surrounded by text on both
sides. The colour of the title
has changed to red.
Final Draft
While i wanted to follow the
basic codes and
conventions of a magazine
layout, I wanted to make
mine unique. I thus placed
the model at the right edge
of the page. I also made the
logo be slightly covered by
the model to give an artistic
effect. Plain white text is to
be placed at the bottom
and the left side of the page

Final Product
Due to excessive pre
planning and sketching, I
was able to create the
cover page in one go. I had
religiously followed my
final draft while editing on
photoshop.
The final product turned out exactly how i wanted it to. The red handwritten
font gives off a joyful vibe while the expressions and pose of the model
emphasise elegance and modesty. The use of red lights on the model offer a
cohesion of colours as it matches the title. The text at the bottom gives insight
into the content of the magazine without being cluttered and taking away
attention from the main image.
