An Analysis of Harpers Bazaar Fashion Magazine

This is a three step analysis of the cover, double page spread and
content page of harper’s bazaar magazine. This is the magazine
that I referred to most and will take inspiration from for my own
media product. I believe it targets the same audience of female
young adults and adults that I want my magazine to target.

After scrutinizing the cover it can be determined that the model’s look is distinctly prominent and eye catching. Her
attire is dark and sultry which gives off a rather mysterious aura. The makeup look that she has is minimalist yet
striking further enhancing her features while her body and facial expression gives her an air of boldness and power.
The model here does not depict the stereotypical idea of women and instead represents confidence and high
fashion. This is appealing to the audience and therefore attracts more readers.

The font used in this covers gives it a very sophisticated look with the name of the magazine on the very top with

very girly vibe which would attract females. The text expresses women power and that fashion has no age targeting
it to a wider range of audience.

Over all scheme and design

The gray background complements the text and the model’s look. The scheme is dark and elegant making the
reader curious to gain the knowledge of what is inside. The dark theme gives the magazine a polished and refined
