Approach
SLIDESMANIA.CO
Behavior modification is based on the
idea that good behavior should lead to
positive consequences and
bad behavior should lead to negative
consequences.
Examples of behavior modification which
can be used to increase behavior are:
praise and approval, modeling, positive
programming, self-monitoring, and
shaping.

Types of Behavior Modification
Rewards
Some students respond to receiving
rewards for good behavior, such as
prizes, extra recess or stickers on a chart.
Punishment
Some students respond to punishment.
They stop using unacceptable behavior if
they know they'll face consequences for
breaking the rules.

Responsibility
Acceptable classroom behavior should be
reinforced by making consequences
closer to those of real life. The world
doesn't always punish or reward people
who behave in a particular manner.
Considerations
Schools have sets of rules, and many have school
improvement teams that study behavior's effect on
learning and adjust rules accordingly. It's helpful to
gain support from parents &community members to
identify problem behavior, set a good example and
teach students to practice proper behavior.

Teachers can use behavior modification in their
classroom to increase desirable student
behaviors and decrease undesirable ones. Positive reinforcement refers to giving a
student something that will reinforce their good
behavior. Classroom discipline that relies
mostly on positive reinforcement is usually
very effective. Examples of positive
reinforcement include praise, a reward system,
or a token economy system.

Behavior Modification Techniques Negative reinforcement is when a student
in the Classroom is motivated to change behavior because it
will take away something unpleasant. A
student who stops a behavior because his
teacher yells at him is trying to get rid of
the negative reinforce (the yelling).
Negative reinforcement should be used
sparingly with students, because it is less
effective than positive reinforcement.

Behavior Modification Techniques Positive punishment is used to stop negative
in the Classroom behaviors. Although it sounds confusing to refer
to punishment as positive, when you are using
operant conditioning, the term positive means
adding, so a positive punishment involves
adding a consequence that will help deter a
student from repeating the behavior.
For example, a small child picks his nose in class and the teacher corrects him
in front of the class, or a teen’s cellphone starts ringing during class and he
