Exposition:
M. and Mme. Loisel are a middle class
Couple who lived in Paris in the 19th centur
Conflict:
While M. Loisel is contented
with his life,
Mme. Loisel is very unhappy
about not
having a luxurious life.
Rising Action:
When they get invited to a fancy
ball. Mme. Loisel has to borrow a
necklace from Mme. Forestier. She
is nervous at first but has a great
time at the party.
Climax:
As they leave the party, Mme.
Loisel loses the borrowed
necklace. They panic and have to
ask for loans to replace the
necklace, they thought it is very
expensive.
Falling Action:
The Loisels gather the money
needed and successfully replace
the lost necklace, but they end up
spending all their money and have
to live a low class life.
Resolution:
Years later, after the Loisels have
paid off their extensive debts,
Mme. Loisel meets up again with
her old friend Mme. Forestier.
Mme. Loisel tells her the story of
the necklace and her friend
confesses to her that the necklace
was actually made of paste.
