Vision and Mission
• MISSION: We are dedicated to the development of individual strengths while fostering knowledge
through discovery. We empower each student to achieve personal growth in a kind and caring
community of learners.
• VISION: We are dedicated to the development of individual strengths while fostering knowledge
through discovery. We empower each student to achieve personal growth in a kind and caring
community of learners.
Strategies that embed the Mission and Vision
• Alter schedule to allow time for student interventions during the school day to encourage students to
achieve personal growth. For example, my old school scheduled an intervention block where students
were pulled for small groups both inside and outside of their classrooms.
• Providing Professional Development for teachers to help them empower students and foster knowledge.
Strategies that embed the Mission and Vision Cont.
• Hold teachers accountable for the school’s mission and vision. “At each evaluation, a note is made
reflecting the teacher's progress in meeting our school's vision” (Brig, 2018, P.4). This will ensure that
teachers keep the mission in mind daily.
• Encourage teacher collaboration so that they are supportive and helpful of each other. In Shaping
School Culture, it is stated to be helpful of others and this can only be done when teachers are given the
opportunity to collaborate. (Deal & Peterson, 2016, P. 85) This allows teachers to collaborate about
how to best help foster student knowledge.
Strategies that embed the Mission and Vision Cont.
• Emphasis on Differentiation. “Instruction must be differentiated in order to meet the needs of a range of
students” (Dix, 2012, P. 11). This allows students to set appropriate individual goals for themselves.
• Focus on building relationships. It is important to build relationships with students to get to know their
learning styles and how to differentiate instruction for each to foster their learning.
• Communicate with families to build a caring community of learners.
Communicating Strategies to Stakeholders
• Hold frequent meetings for stakeholders to keep them updated with school happenings. Provide
refreshments and allow them to share opinions and ideas. This helps create a caring community.
Communicating Strategies to Stakeholders Cont.
• Share celebrations with stakeholders. Invite them to assemblies, festivals, etc. This allows stakeholders
to take an active role in the school and further see what students are achieving. This helps foster a
caring community for students.
Presenter’s Notes
• The mission and vision are the heart and soul of the school.
• My school’s mission and vision really focuses on helping students foster their individual knowledge
and grow through discovery.
• Strategies should focus on helping students succeed.
• Stakeholders should be involved in most school aspects.
