SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Open Content Network (OCN) Partners
Q1 2022

PUBLIC
Any content. Any time. Any place.

• The Open Content Network (OCN) enables SuccessFactors Learning

customers to offer their users the ability to easily access fresh, meaningful
content through external content providers, directly from SuccessFactors
Learning via computer or mobile devices any time.

• OCN vendor content acts just like other content in the system and can be
made available in Catalogs, Programs, and Curricula, as well as
directly assigned to employees by Administrators or Supervisors.

• Users are able to easily find courses in their Catalog, and the OCN
courses are integrated with all other internally-provided content.

OCN API Functionality

Whether integrating content solutions or other platform elements, providers

may leverage the following standard API functions:

• Course Import

• User Single Sign-On (SSO)

• Completion

• Auto-Provision User Access

Note: Feasibility depends on the complexity of each partner (case-by-case determination).

Original providers may leverage some of these, but new providers (especially those that pursue a formal
partnership with SAP) would ideally support all APIs.

Important Notes
Partners fall under the OCN umbrella in terms of partnership level, technical integration
status, content offerings, or any combination thereof and OCN integration currently takes
multiple forms:
 Newer partners build integrations on the OCN framework using APIs.
 Original / pre-OCN-framework providers may rely on batch processes and traditional e-Learning standards (AICC / SCORM).
 Some continue to leverage the legacy processes, but others are now taking the recommended approach of building OCN-
framework, API-based integrations.
 Both types sync back to SuccessFactors Learning as the master system of record.

Providers without a formal partnership with SAP may still access the OCN APIs via Open
Ecosystem participation and/or build a custom integration for any customer.
- Customers could work directly with the third-party providers in order to enable their content in the LMS.
- SAP support would be extended to integrations that stem from formal partnerships.

Original (Pre-OCN Framework) Integration Providers
The Implementing Open Content Network SAP Help Article detail the steps to integrate content from these partners.
The key difference for legacy providers is that they require file-based import (via SFTP) to bring the content into SuccessFactors Learning.

Special Considerations: Non-OCN Providers

SAP Content Stream by Skillsoft is an SAP Solution Extension (SolEx).

 Assets are imported into SuccessFactors Learning, leveraging standard import automation within SuccessFactors.
 All content assets have automated completion tracking with SuccessFactors Learning.
 This offering differs from Skillsoft’s previous content – it is a new offering with unique capabilities.

Litmos has their own internal processes to engage with customers.

SAP Litmos Training Content SCORM 1.2 files are LMS-compatible and can be deployed to SuccessFactors Learning via
the built-in import functionality, but the content is not presently available via OCN integration.
