    Insects, especially bees, are crucial pollinators of many food crops. Without insect pollination, many fruits and vegetables would not be produced in the quantities needed to feed the world's population. The overuse of pesticides and urbanization has led to the extinction of wild bee populations in some areas. This endangers food security as pollination must now be done by hand, which is inefficient and problematic compared to natural pollination by insects. Growing a single crop over large areas, or monoculture farming, also threatens pollinator populations as it reduces the availability of alternative food sources for bees. Ensuring pollination and protecting insect populations is essential for global food security.
