STP 120 TISSUE PROCESSOR
Tissue processing is a
technique than uses
alcohols to remove
water from tissues and
replace it with a
medium that allows
sectioning of tissue.
Several methods are
used to achieve this.
▪ Immediate and delayed start processing modes
▪ Programmable spinning speed of either 60 or 70
The STP 120 has a
rpm; spinning can also be programmed off
patented and unique
technique that ▪ Programmable immersion time in each station (from
combines several
movements for the 1 minute to 99 hours: 59 minutes)
tissue to achieve perfect ▪ Basket capacity of 120 or 240 cassettes
infiltration results.
▪ Battery backup system in case of power failure
▪ Reagent vessel tops and charcoal-enhanced
Performance ventilation help control processing vapors
▪ Up to 10 different processing programs maintained
▪ Cassette baskets spin counterclockwise and
clockwise within reagent container to improve
processing
▪ Reagent carryover is reduced through gentle
centrifugal spinning of basket above reagent vessel
▪ Each reagent vessel holds 1.8 L of processing
reagent
Paraffin Vessels
▪ Connection marked with the number 10 only if a third paraffin
bath has been installed in position 10
▪ Connection marked with the number 11 only if the paraffin
bath has been installed in position 11
▪ Connection marked with the number 12 only if the paraffin
bath has been installed in position 12
Physical Specifications:

The Epredia STP 120 spin tissue processor

Electrical Requirements: 100-
240 V, 50/60 Hz can easily adapt to your lab’s specimen
Diameter: 85 cm (33.5 in.) processing needs with programmable, gentle
centrifugal force to augment the normal
Height: 50 cm opening to 70 cm
(19.6 in. opening to 27.5 in.) vertical agitation process associated with
Weight: 154 lb. (70 kg) carousel processors.
Features

ROTATIONA ▪ The basket with the cassettes is immersed into the

L reagent vessel. In this position, the basket turns at

AGITATION 60 rpm and changes the rotational direction every

60 seconds.
Features

SHAKING ▪ This movement can be optionally activated on the

control panel
Features

▪ This function is activated as soon as the infiltration

CENTRIFUGING time comes to an end. The basket rises above the
reagent’s level but rests inside the vessel
Features

Ergonomic ▪ The buttons of the control panel are arranged

control ergonomically for easy handling.

panel
Features

▪ The instrument has the capacity to store up to 10

Easy different programs that can be freely set up by the
handling user.
Maximum ▪ The individual cover for each one of the vessels
reduces the emission of vapors to a minimum. The
safety STP 120-2 and STP 120-3 versions incorporate a
standards for fume extraction system that – through a fan and an
the user and active charcoal filter – cleanse the vapors before

the specimen being discharged into the air.

▪ If the specimens remain inside a station for a longer

Alarms time than the programmed time, due to a power

failure, the display will show a message indicating
during the the station number and the overtime spent in that

process station compared with the initially programmed

time.
CONTROL PANEL

The control panel at

the front of the
carrousel contains all
the keys
required to handle and
program the carrousel.
Entering the Program The 'programmed value' is a digit that appears on the
programming display.
It has the following meaning: 0 = without rotation stirring 1 =
rotation stirring at 60 rpm. 2 = rotation stirring at 70 rpm

▪ The vessels contain the reagents indicated on the list.

▪ The basket holder is located at station 1
▪ Press the UPWARD or DOWNWARD key to lower the basket
holder into reagent vessel 1 and prevent the reagents from
evaporating while carrying out the programming
If the date, time hour and language are correct,
proceed as follows.

PROGRAM key will light and the screen will display

the following message

If program number 01 is selected, the screen will

appear as shown.
