You can modify comparatives to show
how big the difference is.
To show a big difference, you can use:
1) a lot/ far/much/miles+ more/less/-er comparatives and too
It’s much too expensive for me.
This car is miles economical than my old car.
Living in the city is much more convenient than living in he
country.
2) Nearly with not as comparatives and not...enough
It wasn’t nearly as good as I expected.
The trip wasn’t nearly enjoyable enough
To show a small difference, you can use:
1)a bit, slightly, a little + more/less/-er comparatives
and too.
It’s a bit too small. I need three bedrooms.
That car was slightly cheaper than this one.
I need a car that’s a litle less expensive.
2) quite with not as compratives and not enough
This question is not quite as easy to answer.
This car is not quite big enough for my family.
To show the comparison is surprising, you can
use:
even or actually.
This area has become even more popular since
they opened the new shopping center.
It’s actually not as entertaining as I thoght it
would be.
You can compare nouns in similar ways:
There are far/alot more cars than before.
He doesn’t have nearly as many friends as he did
before.
It costs slightly/a bit more money than my old
place.
It has two more bedrooms than I have now
