Gateway Speaking Format

• You will do the exam in pairs.


• You will be given appointment times.
• Your partner could be from any one of the CST
classes.
• The test lasts for a total of 7 minutes.
• There are three parts:
– Part 1: Warm Up (1minute)
– Part 2: Prompted Talk (30 seconds + 2 minutes)
– Part 3 Discussion (30 seconds + 3 minutes)
Strategies
• Practice the answers to Part 1 – the questions are
always the same so if you have practiced the answers,
you will feel more confident during the exam.
