GLOBAL WARMING

THE GLOBAL CATASTROPHY

WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?
Global Warming is defined as the increase of the
average temperature on Earth. As the Earth is
getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes, droughts
and floods are getting more frequent.
Over the last 100 years, the average temperature
of the air near the Earth´s surface has risen a
little less than 1° Celsius .It is responsible for the
increase in storms floods and raging forest fires
we have seen in the last ten years.
How can global warming be measured?

Usually global warming cannot and is not

measured in the terms of temperature
variations, but it measured in terms of
extinction.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GLOBAL
WARMING AND CLIMATE CHANGE.
Global warming Climate change

• Is the increase of the • Is a broader term that

Earth’s average surface refers to long term
temperature due to a changes in climate,
build-up of greenhouse including average
gases in the temperature and
atmosphere. precipitation
CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING.

1. The greenhouse effect

Major greenhouse gases:

 water vapor(36 to 70%)
Carbon dioxide(9 to 20%)
Methane(4 to 9%)
Ozone (3 to 7%)
2. Carbon dioxide emitted from:
 power plant
Cars
Airplanes
Buildings

3.Deforestation

4. Traffic jams/grid locks

DEADLY EFFECT’S OF GLOBAL WARMING.

1.Spread of Disease

As northern countries
warm, disease carrying
insects migrate north,
bringing plague and disease
with them.
2.Warmer waters and
more hurricanes

As the temperature of
oceans rises, so will the
probability of more
frequent and stronger
hurricanes.
3.Increased probability
and intensity of
droughts and heat
waves
Although some areas of
Earth will become wetter
due to global warming,
other areas will suffer
serious droughts and heat
waves.
4.Economic
consequences

Most of the effects of global

warming won’t be good.
And these effects spell one
thing for the countries of
the world: economic
consequences.
5.POLAR ICE CAPS MELTING
 First: It will raise sea levels. There are 5,773,000 cubic
miles of water in ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow.

 Second: Melting ice caps will throw the global ecosystem

out of balance.

 Third: Danger to several species of animals.

 Fourth: Warming of the Earth.

MEASURES OF CONTROLLING GLOBAL
WARMING.
1. Raising awareness
2. Choose alternative transportation
3. Using energy efficient appliances
4. Switching of electronics and appliances when not
required
5. Replace light bulbs
6. Reduce deforestation
7. Promote aforestation
8. Recycle
CONCLUSION
The bottom line is, it is coming if not
already here. The fact is that it is going
to hit everyone not the poor
or the rich.
Unless some serious steps are not
taken to prevent it, there will be a global
catastrophy about which we will be helpless.
So it is up to us , the choices are take the
preventive measures or ignore it and get ready for
the
APOCALYPSE!!!.
