INTRODUCTION

1. BACKGROUND AND CONCEPT DEFINITIONS

Civil engineering is the art of designing and realizing structure which includes many
areas of activities like; building and public works. Engineering participates in the
development of country by the realization of his beautiful works. The term penthouse
is used to describe an apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building. A penthouse is
a single occupancy living space built into the rooftop as an additional floor , set back
from the outer walls. Cameroun as an emerging country which can’t develop without
building itself , resulting in a demographie increase as the need if dwelling houses ans
modern infrastructures . That’s why we Choose pour topic .
2. PROBLEM STATEMENT

Due to an increase in terms of population especially in

DOUALA which is an economical town and where we
observe a massive rural exodus and evolution of living
conditions, so , there is a need for homes for habitation
3. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

MATERIALS AND METHODS

 MATERIALS :

they are tools and equipment used to carry out our project
such as :
AUTOCAD 2016
, ARCHICAD, MS PROJECT, MS WORD
NEUFERT: a guide for architectural design who indicates
us architectural norms and standards
Guide du tacheron: for knowledge on technology of
construction ie show us how to construct from
 METHODS
 This section represents the set of steps that we will implement to carry out
the study of this project

Geotechnical
study

Architectural
plans

Structural
analysis Cost and
estimate
GEOTECHNICAL STUDY

The question for us is to evaluate the geotechnical parameters such as:

 bearing capacty of the soil

 Permissible soil stress
 Volumetric weight of land
 Depth of footing
 Presence of any underground gunshots such as termite’s holes or rotting tree
roots
Architectural design

this step consist on doing:

 A list of requirements
 Programming
 Drawing
Predimensioning
This step will consist of predefined sections of the supporting structures. We use
the EUROCODE2 for our predimensionement,
ARCHITECTURAL PLAN
 Distribution Plan
 Formwork Plan
 Foundation Plan
 Sections and View Plans
 Roof Plan
Structural Analysis

The following norms were used EN 1995-1-

2004ac:2008,EN1997-1:2008,Eurocode2
And BAEL 91

The two principal categories of limit states are:

 Ultimate limit state
 Serviceability limit state

Here all our calculations are done at ultimate limit state

Dimensioning of the
structures
As said before the sizing we will also use the Eurocode 2
calculation standard in the context of the sizing of carrier
structures such as :
 Column
 Beams
 Slabs
 Staircase
 Reinforce concrete wall
 Footing
The different calculation formulas and calculation steps are
precised in our document
Costing of the project

In this step will gradualy have documents such as:

 Descriptive estimate
 Quantitive estimate
 Estimative estimate
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The project consist in realizing a residential G+3 BUILDING WITH PENTHOUSE in
Douala TOWN.
The structure has an architectural rectangular shape with a total surface
506,979m2 .
the building is tructured as follows:
 A ground floor with:
4 identical apartments type T3 of which we have per aprtment:
 2 bedrooms
 2 toilets
 A living room
 A kitchen
The courant floors

3 Identical storeys which all contained 4 apartements type T3 structured as follows:

 2 bedrooms
 2 toilets
 A living room
 A kitchen

A penthouse structured as follows:

 2 bedrooms
 2 toilets
 A living room
 2 dressings
 A big terrace
 A boukarou
 A swimming pool
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

In this part it will be question

for us go give the results After
unsing and implemanting the
differents methods listes in
the previous part.
I . GEOTECHNICAL
STUDY

AT the Ends of
geotechnical investigations ,
After carrying thé heavy
Dynamic penetrometer test
we have

Allowable stress = 1.9 bars

• Depth of footing = 1m
II . PREDIMENSIONING
OF STRUCTURAL
ELEMENTS
We have here predimension
elements such as beams ,
Columns , slabs , Staircase ….
For beams
After predimensioning
we have obtained beams
of sections like describe
on the diagram aside
For the colums

We have obtained
pillars of dimensions
as describe in the
diagram aside
For the colums

We have a slab of thickness

16+4 so our slab is 20 cm thick
For the stair case
 We have 18 steps
 The going is G= 26cm
 The rising is R= 16cm
 Theiclination angle is
33,02°
III-STRUCTURAL ANALYSING AND
DESIGNING
Here we will carried out load evaluation of different elements
such as beams ; columns; slab; stair case.
For the
beam(0.15*O.4)
 We have our most loaded beam represented on the diagram below
 After carrying load evaluation we obtained the mechanical sketch
For the column(0.3*0.4)
 We have our most loaded column

COST AND ESTIMATE
This estimate is made at the sum of eight hundred six
million five hundred eighty thousand five hundred twenty
francs cfa.
