The Industrial Engineer is a multifaceted professional because he can hold
positions in different labor fields. Because of this, it is imperative that the
engineering student has command of English for when he becomes a
professional he receives good job offers. But this is not easy, we must
motivate future engineers to feel interest in this language and that is why in
this adventure of the world of knowledge in which we are immersed both
teachers and students, it is necessary that the teacher awakens in his students
the interest in the study of this language that is recognized as the universal
language for communications.
What is the importance of the Subject English in the training of university-level
students?The English language is a key tool for professional success, since it
allows us to exchange with other cultures worldwide, for something it is
considered the language of communications. With regard to technological
advancement, it is indisputable that English has become the most widely used
language in the world, every day it is used more in almost all areas of knowledge
and human development.Their learning is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
That is why it is said that those who do not master that language would be at a
disadvantage with respect to other professionals.
 Why is English important in engineering?

1. In today's world, employers are looking for graduates with strong communication
skills, along with technical engineering skills.

2. Having good communication skills is a valuable asset to any organization.

3. Professionals with a strong command of the English language set themselves at a

higher level of standards in the organization.
For communication, an engineer should keep these things in
mind:
Most of the theories are taught in English. For this reason, an expected level of
English language proficiency would be essential.

Today's engineers have to communicate with their counterparts around the world.
Among most professionals such as scientists, technologists and business experts who
belong to different cultures and linguistics, English is predominantly considered as a
language of communication.

For professional purposes, English can be very useful.

 The basic reasons why an engineer should be fluent in English
are as follows:
• In the social life of a student, the English language is the most important.

• It helps to build a strong relationship and better understanding between peers and
colleagues.

• To be successful in any field, one has to know, understand and communicate effectively.

• In the era of liberalization, privatization and globalization, the ability to communicate is

the key to success.

• English is now a bridge language of international business, technology, research and

aviation. Around 1.8 billion people speak English and the number continues to rise.
 Where can an industrial engineer work?

Design of quality control processes: here the industrial engineer will use
his knowledge to guarantee a safe and effective process to maintain
and/or improve the quality of the company's products where his services
are required.

Optimization of manufacturing processes: in this case, the engineer will

be in charge of improving the process or streamlining it, so that it
consumes few resources, both human and raw material, and thus
improve the company's manufacturing process.
 Job opportunities
The industrial engineer can work in a wide labor field, and not only in his
own country of graduation, but also in any other. For that reason is
important know other lenguages.

Latin American countries (at least most of them) are opting for the services
of these professionals, who together with environmental engineers improve
the production of companies that put the environment at risk.
