ADJECTIVE ADVERB
a part-of-speech that modifies or describes a noun or a An adverb is a word that tells us more about a verb. It
pronoun "qualifies" or "modifies" a verb (The man ran quickly).
An adjective often comes BEFORE a noun: Adverbs of Manner
e.g.: a small car Adverbs of Manner tell us the manner or way in which
something happens. They answer the question "how?".
And sometimes an adjective comes AFTER a verb:
Adverbs of Manner mainly modify verbs.
e.g: The sky became dark.
He speaks slowly. (How does he speak?)
But adjectives can also modify pronouns 
They helped us cheerfully. (How did they help us?)
e.g.: She is beautiful.

 Degrees of Comparison is
a kind of a comparison used to compare
something with another thing or with the
others using adjective to compare.

We can compare this picture using two
adjective :
1. tall Alvie is taller than Arkaan

Ayu is taller than Alvie

2. short Alvie is shorter than Ayu Ayu is the tallest of all.


Arkaan is shorter than Alvie

Arkaan is the shortest of all.

with another, we use
DEGREES OF COMPARISON

THERE ARE THREE DEGREES OF
COMPARISON:
1. POSITIVE DEGREE
2. COMPARATIVE DEGREE
3. SUPERLATIVE DEGREE

POSITIVE
DEGREE
The positive form is used in cases where there are no differences
between the two compared things or persons. To form the
positive, we use the word as before and after the absolute form
of the adjective.

The examples of positive degree:
This can also be applied in a

is as tall as John. the compared objects
2. She is as beautiful as are not similar:
her sister. 1. Martin is not as tall as John.
3. The motorcycle is as 2. She is not as beautiful as her

COMPARATIVE DEGREE
When two objects or persons are being compared, the
comparative form of the adjective is used. The comparative
adjective can be formed in two ways:
1. Adding –er to the absolute form of the adjective.
tall → taller
2. Adding the word more before the adjective.
beautiful → more beautiful

FORM OF COMPARATIVE DEGREE
1. FOR 1-2 SYLLABLES
Adjective + er + than
e.g.: David is taller than Jack.
2. FOR MORE THAN 2 SYLLABLES
more + adjective + than
e.g.: Rose is more beautiful than Jasmine.

SUPERLATIVE
DEGREE
Superlative adjectives are used to
describe an object which is at the
upper or lower limit of a quality (the
tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the
highest).
They are used in sentences where a
subject is compared to a group of
objects.

SUPERLATIVE DEGREE
FORM : the + adjective + est or
the + most + adjective
Examples
1. My house is the largest one in our neighborhood.
2. This is the smallest box I've ever seen.
3. Your dog ran the fastest of any dog in the race.
4. This cars is the most expensive of other cars

little (jumlah) - less - the least

many/much - more - the most
late (waktu) - later - the latest
old (benda) - older - the oldest
late (urutan) - latter - the last
old (orang) - elder - the eldest
far (jarak) - farther - the farthest simple - simpler - the simplest

+ One Piece is better than Naruto.
+ One Piece lebih bagus daripada Naruto.
+ My money will be more than yours.
+ Uangku akan jadi lebih banyak daripada uangmu.
+ This is the latest version of the software.
+ Ini adalah versi paling akhir dari software tersebut.

Examples :
+ Martha understands grammar the most in the class.
+ I can solve this better than you.
