WRITING A NARRATIVE

WRITING A NARRATIVE

• A narrative is a story that you write or tell to someone,

usually in great detail. A narrative can be a work of poetry
or prose, or even song, theater, or dance.

• Often a narrative is meant to include the "whole story." A

summary will give a few key details and then the narrative
will delve into the details.
WHY IS NARRATIVE STRUCTURE

• Narratives tell stories, and stories help us connect with each other.
• They are written to entertain and to share experiences with a reader.
• Narratives can be written in many mediums, such as novels, short

EXAMPLE

• While I was walking my dog this morning, it saw a cat and started
running towards it. My dog was on a leash and the pull took me by
surprise so I tripped, fell and hurt my knee. Fortunately, a neighbor
saw the whole thing and stopped my dog before it went too far.

finalizaron: it saw / vio; I tripped / caí.

•quick – quickly
•careful – carefully
•gentle – gently
•When an adjective ends in -y we change the -y to -i then add -ly. For example,
