What is Hypertension?
Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. It can lead to severe
health complications and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and
sometimes death. Blood pressure is the force that a person’s blood exerts
against the walls of their blood vessels. The nurse can help the patient
achieve blood pressure control through education about managing blood
pressure. Assist the patient in setting goal blood pressures. Provide assistance
with social support.
What happens when you have Hypertension?
 High blood pressure can damage your arteries by making them less elastic, which
decreases the flow of blood and oxygen to your heart and leads to heart disease. In
addition, decreased blood flow to the heart can cause: Chest pain, also called angina.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:


• Severe Headaches
• Fatigue or confusion
• Irregular heartbeat
• Difficulty breathing
• Insomnia
• Nosebleed
• Chest Pain
• Blood in the urine

• Follow Medical Advice
• Take Medicine as Prescribed
• Regularly Check Blood Pressure
• Reduce and Manage Stress
• Reduce your salt intake, avoid saturated and trans-fat
• Engage in Regular Physical Activity
• Maintain a Healthy Weight
• Eat Fresh and Natural Fruits
• Don’t smoke and limit alcohol
