Few Basic Drawing Practices
• Correct way using T-square
• Setting Up Paper on Drawing board
• Draw the horizontal lines and vertical lines
• Mark a gap / distance between two
measurement point
• Drawing angles with Set Square
• Drawing a border and title block
Correct practices using T-Square
There must be no gaps
otherwise the paper will not
be set up correctly and
drawing accurate horizontal
and vertical lines will be
impossible

The T-square must be

placed up against the
edge of the drawing
board.
Setting Up Paper on Drawing Board

The paper is then allowed to rest on the T-square. Check that the paper rests
properly on the T-square and that there are no gaps between the T-square and the
paper OR the T-square and the side of the drawing board.

The clips can then be positioned holding the paper securely to the board.
Each time you draw a horizontal line check that the T-
square is pressed completely against the edge of the board.
There should be no gaps.
To mark a gap / distance between two
measurement point
Practice 1
• Draw a few horizontal lines with the gap of
20mm each.
To draw vertical lines a T-square and set square are used
together.
Be careful to check that there no gaps between the T-square and
the board AND the set square and the T-square. Do not draw
vertical lines with a set square only as they will not be accurate.
Practice 2
• Draw a few of vertical lines with the gap of
20mm each on the top of horizontal line.
Drawing Angles with Set Squares

Set squares are only accurate if they are used along with a T-square.
The set square must rest on the T-square which should be pushed against the
edge of the board.
If the T-square is not right against the edge of the board (if there are even small
gaps) lines drawn at an angle will not be accurate.
Practice 2
• Draw 45-deg angle lines along the square
edges of the your previous sketch.
Practice 3
• Draw 4 circles with the radius of 20mm
Practice 4
• Draw a few of 30-deg angle lines with the gap
of 15mm on any of blank area of your paper.
