 The term Business Intelligence was coined in 1989, alongside


computer models for decision making.
 
 Business intelligence combines business analytics, data
mining, data visualization, data tools and infrastructure, and
best practices to help organizations make more data-driven
decisions. 

 Raw data is collected from business systems and is processed


and then stored in data warehouses, the cloud, applications,
and files

 BI platforms also offer data visualization tools, which convert


data into charts or graphs, as well as presenting to any key
stakeholders or decision-makers.

• A data warehouse is constructed by integrating data from multiple
heterogeneous sources that support analytical reporting, structured and/or ad hoc
queries, and decision making.
• Data warehousing involves data cleaning, data integration, and data
consolidations.
• The goal of data warehousing is to create a trove of historical data that can be
retrieved and analysed to provide useful insight into the organization's operations.
