SHEEPS
1) Sheep are reared for wool, meat (mutton), milk,
skin and manure.
2) Sheep farming is practiced on hills and
mountains.
3) The process of removing the woolen coat of a
sheep is called shearing.
4) Some important breeds of sheep reared in India
are Marwari, Pashmina, Nali, Chokla and Dekkani.
5) Sheep feed on green grass, weeds, wild ,
plants and other farm wastes.
GOATS
1.Goats are one of the main meat producing
animals in India. They are reared for their meat,
milk, manure and skin.

2.Goats can survive in adverse environmental


conditions and on land with low fertility.

3.Goats can feed on a variety of plants and goat’s


milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk and it is
also more nutritious.

4. The cost involved in goat farming is lower than


the farming of other livestock.

5. The most important breeds of goats in India are


Jamunapari, Sirohi, Beetal and Barbari.
