Can you name languages in your imigrant
community?
Do you think learning to speak a little bit of the languages
would help to get into closer contact to the migrants?
Most people answered ‘yes’ but other responses said, for example:

“If the people that have moved here learned Finnish, it would help.”

“Possibly, but I live in such a backwater I don't really have the need for such.”

“Maybe, but right now I don´t have the need to be in contact with them, so this
reasoning wouldn´t affect me learning the languages.”

“Yes, it could show that you have wanted to learn something about them and it would
be polite.”
Conclusion
Most people don’t know any of the languages but think speaking them
would be beneficial.

Kalajoki has a population of 13 000 and within that there are 17 different
languages.

It’s a surprisingly big number of languages for such a small town.
