by the Sea”, creating sea themed window displays. The
jewelry from the soft colored window displays are from
jewelry designers, Jean Schlumberger and Elsa Peretti.
The sea and parasols props is being used to present the
Tiffany & Co jewelry collection creating a fantasy setting.

Here the prop is functional as well as decorative

today, we dig a little deeper into the story of this iconic brand.

Hermès created a summer window display where


their well-known printed scarfs are used as
creative props. This display also has a structural
prop which holds the merchandise and the
decorative prop.

The theme is “A Sporting Life”. Instead of viewing sport as


competitive or manifestation of strength, the designers
have taken an aesthetical perspective, and chosen
badminton for the windows as a sport of leisure which is
much loved by the China market. In the tango between the
shuttlecocks and badminton rackets, the design records
the loci of movement and rediscovers the elegance of sport
depicted through an abstract setting. Apart from the
mannequin the prop here is functional.

The store Hermès in the Dutch department store de


Bijenkorf has hired Belgium artists to create this
decorative quilling artwork to create an abstract
setting.

The props here are both structural and functional in the


form of transparent glass slabs and display bust to
showcase the merchandises.

bat-and-ball game ‘Cricket’ used in their spring
window display. The display is monochromatic
and made out of layers of paper cut out. The
structural prop on which the merchandise is
kept is the cuboidal column .

Menchari.

Hermès used a golden setting for this window display


with wooden shelves which is a structural prop, to
present their products. The golden branches are
placed for decorative p[purposes.

Anthropologie sells women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, home


furnishings and gifts. Anthropologie is geared toward women
looking for unique, one-of-a-kind designs. Also, its marketing
technique is more about selling a lifestyle rather than products.
Anthropologie opened its first store in 1992 in Wayne,
Pennsylvania.

plastic bottles and more. The window displays pay

handcrafted fruits veggies and flowers to create an
abstract setting. The functional prop[ here is the
mannequin which showcases the brand merchandise.

The hot air balloons in the windows are crafted of


everyday lightweight materials, like tissue paper, burlap,
canvas, etc.

Anthropologie brings Greece to the summer window displays


by perfectly setting the beautiful historical and natural
landscape into the windows. Each window has this cute
whitewashed cube homes carved into the hills with a turquoise
blue background of the Aegean sea creating a semi realistic
setting . The blues and the whites gives a fresh summer
feeling where passers-by get the feeling they are on a summer
holiday looking over the sea. The functional prop here are the
mannequins and rest are decorative.

sounds. An internationally renowned brand since 1946, the
French fashion house acclaimed for its elegance and timeless
femininity. A leading company that has remained at the top
of fashion's hierarchy for over 70 years, Dior's unique look
has influenced the world of fashion since the beginning.
Innovative but traditional, Dior maintains its reputation as
creator of recognized haute couture. From their ready-to-
wear fashion, leather goods, accessories, or footwear, Dior
changed the game forever. To this day, the brand is all
around us in some way, shape, or form - even if we don't
know it.

Dior Pre-Fall window display is related to the Secret Garden

2 – Versailles film, using a painted garden as background for
the windows and displaying the geometric trees as geometric
objects which gives a semi – realistic vibe.

The scenes of the Secret Garden 2 Film are taken at le


château de Versailles, where the end scene is inspired by
Édouard Manet painting from 1863, “Le déjeuner sur l’herbe”
meaning “The Luncheon on the Grass.

MORPHED DIOR WINDOW DISPLAYS AT SAKS
FIFTH AVENUE

Saks Fifth Avenue is celebrating the arrival of the


House of Dior with window displays where the
background looks morphed, reacting on the shape
of the reflecting balls. This an abstract setting, and
the functional prop here are the hollow circular
spheres where the merchandises are displayed.

Harrods has partnered up with Dior to combine


the French Savior Fair and British charm. The fashion
brand has taking over the Brompton Road
windows from the department store that pays homage
to the British culture.

The main prop beside the mannequin is the London eye which
functions as both decorative and functional prop and the
setting is semi realistic.

inspired by the City of Light and so it’s called
“Inspirations Parisiennes”.

This is a fantasy window ,where the main functional


props are the doll like mannequins holding the
merchandise i.e. the bags in their hands.

also consists of wooden structures which functions as
structural prop to hold the Merchandise.

Marche Rive Gauche. Louis Vuitton and Sofia Coppola
are celebrating the arrival of the new SC Bag through
the beautiful fantasy windows on the eve of the Louis
Vuitton Women’s Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Show.
Here the air balloons functions as decorative as well as
functional the prop .
