• M: It all started when my teacher announced


that there would be a student exchange
programme. We could choose to go to Italy or
France. In the past, I had always ignored these
programmes. But for some reason, this year,
it caught my attention.
• F: So, did you apply straightaway?
• M: I think my biggest concern was that I had a
limited budget but I didn’t let that stopped
me. I went ahead with the application and it
was successful. My parents were a bit worried
about how I would handle life away from
home, of course! I’d never travelled that far
before so I had to buy a new suitcase.
