• Our planet is facing a lot of threats such as air and water pollution, food waste, plastic
pollution, and deforestation. Chemicals manufactured by factories can be found anywhere,
and that is why many companies consider producing their goods in a more environmentally
friendly manner. Moreover, the level of ecological awareness among consumers is
increasing, and people are eager to purchase eco-friendly products despite their higher
prices.

CHALLENGES OF GREEN
MARKETING

1. Green products require renewable and recyclable material, which is costly.

2. Problems of deceptive advertising and false claims.
3. Requires a technology, which requires huge investments in research and
development.
4. Majority of the people are not aware of green products and their uses.
5. Majority of the consumers are not willing to pay a premium for green products.
BENEFITS OF GREEN MARKETING

• Green products typically fall into one or more of six categories, according to Construction Marketing Data:
• Your products are manufactured in ways that save energy, reduce your carbon footprint, or trim your use of natural
resources. This is often cost-effective, so it’s a win aside from the marketing.
• Sustainability: you sell products that require fewer resources to work, such as a washing machine or toilet that uses
minimal water.
• Products made from recycled materials referred to as “post-consumer” or “post-industrial.” Construction companies
can make gypsum board from a byproduct of coal power plants, for example.
1. Your products are recyclable.

EXAMPLE OF A COMPANY WHO HAVE

INTRODUCED GREEN MARKETING STRATEGIES IN
THEIR BUSINESS.
To strengthen the brand image of a toxin-free product brand, Mamaearth started investing in
sustainability. The brand started a ‘Plant Goodness’ initiative to plant a tree for every order
received. To augment that, they also started a ‘Plastic Positivity’ initiative which aims to recycle
plastic. These campaigns helped Mamaearth in gaining the customers’ interest by making them
realize that while buying a product from Mamaearth, they are also contributing towards the
well-being of the environment.
