• When adjectives or adverbs are one or two syllables, the ending -er is used
• Today is colder than yerterday. (Hoy hace más frío que ayer)
• She is younger than her brother. (Ella es más joven que su hermano)
• I stayed longer than I expected. (Yo me quedé más tiempo del que esperaba)
THE USE OF THE MORE
• MORE is used when adjectives or adverbs have more than two syllables, THAN is also written after the
adjective or adverb.
• Gold is more valuable than silver. (El oro es más valioso que la plata)
• His car is more expensive than my car. (Su automóvil es más caro que mi automóvil)
• My brother prepares his homework more carefully than his classmates. (Mi hermano prepara su tarea más
cuidadosamente que sus compañeros)
• She is more ambitious than her sister. (Ella es más ambiciosa que su hermana)
• I am more intelligent than you. (Yo soy más inteligente que tú)
DENYING WITH AS .. AS
My horse can not run as fast as a car. (Mi caballo no puede correr tan rápido como un carro)
I don't speak English as well as my teacher. ( No hablo ingles tan bien como mi profesor )
He doesn't play as well as me. (El no juega tan bien como yo)
Carla's sister is not as pretty as her. (La hermana de Carla no es tan bonita como ella )
She´s not singing as loudly as she can. (Ella no canta tan fuerte como puede)
The second race wasn't as easy as the first one. (La segunda carrera no fue tan fácil como la primera)
These new shoes are not nearly as comfortable as my old ones. (Estos zapatos nuevos no son tan cómodos
como los anteriores.)
IRREGULAR CASES
He is very friendly and generous. He is a nice guy. (Es muy amistoso y generoso. Es un buen chico.)
She is short and pale. She has brown eyes and black hair. Es baja y pálida. Tiene los ojos marrones y pelo negro.
• But now it looks like the surprise is on me. ( Pero ahora parece que la sorpresa es mía.)
• Well, it looks like we're gonna be here for a while. (Bueno, parece que estaremos aquí por un tiempo.)
• Well, it looks like you're moving in the right direction. (Bueno, parece que te estás moviendo en la dirección
correcta.)

• Rosa can swim very fast. (rosa puede nadar muy rápido.)
