INTRODUCTION

•Health service providers help in promoting


and securing health and wellness of the
individual.
•It can be classified into three categories:
health professionals, health facilities, and
healthcare plan and financing systems.
HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
•Healthcare professionals, which include
health practitioners and healthcare providers,
offer systematic healthcare service to people,
families, and communities through the use of
various methods like preventive, curative,
promotional, and rehabilitative measure.
HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
•Healthcare professionals help to
promote the health of individuals by
following scientifically-proven principles
and procedures, providing evidence-
based medicines and drugs.
HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
• Medical doctors – both generalist and specialist
practitioners, including public health doctors.
• Nursing professionals, including public health nurses.
• Midwifery
• Dentists
• Pharmacists
HEALTH FACILITIES
•These facilities offer healthcare and services.
•Some examples are hospitals, clinics,
outpatient clinics, healthcare centers, and
specialized healthcare centers such as
birthing centers and psychiatric care centers.

• These are institutions

• Healthcare centers can be
usually found in the
community.
• The healthcare professionals
working in these centers offer
outpatient, medical, nursing,
dental, and other types of
healthcare services.
MEDICAL
NURSING HOMES
• These are healthcare
institutions which consists of
facilities that can accommodate
and offer general or specialized
medical treatment in the short
term or long term.
• Residential treatment center
and geriatric care facilities are
only some example of medical
nursing homes.
PHARMACIES AND DRUGSTORES
• Pharmacies and drugstores are comprised of
pharmacists, pharmacy technician, and pharmacy
aides.
• These establishments deal with the retail of
prescription and non-prescription drugs and medicines
as well as other retail of other types of medical and
orthopedic goods.
MEDICAL LABORATORY AND RESEARCH

• Medical or clinical and research laboratories


conduct tests on biological specimen for the
purpose of obtaining information regarding the
patient’s health.
HEALTHCARE PLANS & FINANCING SYSTEM
•It aim to meet the health needs of their target
population by delivering healthcare services.
•They consist of organizations of people,
institutions, and resources which can be found
around the world; each one having its own history,
organizational structure, and set of policies and
plans.
QUACKERY

QUACKERY IS…

•It is the act of practicing medical


procedures in a fraudulent and ignorant
manner.
QUACKERY IS…

•It is typically done by the quacks – those


people who deceive the public by
pretending to have medical skills,
knowledge, or qualifications.
MEDICAL QUACKERY
•It claims to cure variety of health conditions
through the use of drugless or bloodless
treatments and remedies.
•However, its effectiveness is still not yet proven
inspite of healing effects claimed by its
advocates.
•Snake oil
NUTRITIONAL QUACKERY
•It claims to use all-natural ingredients such as
medicinal plants and combine them in a single
product.
•It is highly profitable type of quackery.
•Dietary supplements, weight loss products, herbal
remedies, and sport foods which are not approved
by the Bureau of Food and Dug Administration.
DEVICE QUACKERY
•It uses devices or accessories which
claim to cure certain illnesses or health
conditions even without medical basis.
•Dials, gauges, electrodes, magnets,
blinkers, amulets, charms, and
talismans.
