What are we going to
do today? 💡

1. I can list the lab safety rules.

2. I can identify safe and unsafe
behaviors in the science lab.
3. I can use different equipment to
measure weight, volume and
temperature.
#1
I can list the lab safety
rules.
Let’s Discuss
1. Why is lab safety important?
2. How is lab safety different
than classroom safety?
Laboratory Safety Rules

Before leaving the classroom:

1. Bring your laboratory coat, devices

soap and water before leaving.

13.Make sure to submit your lab

report.

• Label the following equipment 4

and predict the function of each.

A. Graduated cylinder 3

B. Digital Scale
C. Thermometer
D. Microscope
Let’s Explore

•Station 1:
•Using a Graduated Cylinder:
• Pour the water in front of you
from the container to the
graduated cylinder.
• Record the volume on your
report.
Let’s Explore

•Station 2:
• Using a Digital Balance to
Measure Mass:
• Examine the digital
scale. Press the “tare”   to
ensure that the scale is
showing a mass of 0.
• Measure the weight of the
provided object.
Let’s Explore

•Station 3:
• Using a Digital Thermometer
to Measure Temperature:
• Turn on the thermometer
and insert it inside the
container.
• Record the reading of the
temperature in your report.

I can use different
equipment to measure
weight, volume and
temperature.
Now it’s your
turn!
