𝒅 = ( 𝒙𝟐 − 𝒙 𝟏 ) + ( 𝒚 𝟐 − 𝒚 𝟏 )
ENTRAPMENT
MECHANICS
You will be grouped into four, and each
group will try to solve the entrapment
puzzle. Your job is to pick pictures showing
the words/phrases indicated in the
rectangles that are already on the playing
field and rearrange them in such a way that
these rectangles with words/phrases about
the picture you picked all lie exactly
halfway between two pictures.
PICTURE BANK
ENTRAPMENT
1. I want you to meet me halfway,
across the borderline.

2. There’s a lot of passengers at the

Central terminal.
If you are experiencing the scenarios from the
pictures, always be reminded that if you share
your struggles you can feel that you are
connected with those experiencing the same
problems with you, just like how the red lines
connected the pictures from the activity.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson you are able to:
Describe the midpoint of a line through
engaging activities;
•Derive the midpoint formula from the given
example;
•Perform the process of obtaining the
midpoint of a line segment given two points
•Appreciate the use of midpoint formula in
real life situations
Changes in Season
Let S = Sun, E1 = Earth at C, E2 = Earth at A
MIDPOINT FORMULA
EXAMPLE 1
Find the coordinates of
midpoint for A(-2, -1)
and B(4, 3).
EXAMPLE 2
Find the coordinates
of midpoint for (10,
1) and Q(2, -1).
EXAMPLE 3
has midpoint H (3, 4) and
one endpoint is A (-3, 0).
Find the coordinates of P,
the other endpoint.
EXAMPLE 4
A segment has midpoint
L(1, 1.5) and one endpoint
is T (-1, 5). What are the
coordinates of the other
endpoint O?
