Start Up & Auto-Zero Cycle
• Acclimate analyzer (does not need to be turned on) to close
to job site temperature if needed before using (for ~30
minutes) especially if analyzer was exposed to cold
temperatures overnight
• Turn on analyzer in clean dry air environment for 60 second
auto-zero cycle

Connect Water Trap & Hoses
• Water Trap slides into shorter black hose and clear hose from
water trap connects to middle “IN” port at bottom of
analyzer
• Longer black hose with metal fitting connects to P+ pressure
port at bottom of analyzer
• Thermocouple connector plugs into T1 input

Water Trap Assembly
• Make sure the water trap is drained &
dry before using
• The water trap assembly must be kept
in a VERTICAL position at ALL TIMES
when operating the analyzer
• Magnets in back help hold analyzer &
water trap vertical and adds user
convenience
• Drain the condensate periodically as
condensate accumulates (if more
than ¼” or 6mm at bottom of water trap)

Draining Water Trap
• Gently twist the two halves of the water trap assembly less
then a ¼ turn to open it up
• Turn the bottom half upside down to drain the condensate
out of the water trap
• Make sure black O-ring is properly in place before twisting
two halves of water trap back together as shown below

Sample Conditioning Unit
• Removes moisture from stack gas at the probe handle
• Recommend for applications of high moisture in stack gas
and/or when measuring Low NOx or SO2

E Instruments Built with Quality in Mind www.E-Inst.com

Gas Sampling
• Insert the gas sampling probe into the stack/flue/pipe
• Position the probe tip as close to center of stack as possible
• Adjustable positioning cone on probe shaft helps position
the probe and allow for a tighter fit into the stack
• Keep probe handle, hose, and operator from hot surfaces

Gas Sensors
Electrochemical Gas Sensors have a finite life
• O2 Sensor has a typical life of 1 to 2 years
• Other Gas Sensors (CO, NO, NO2, SO2, HC, H2S) have a
typical life of 2.5 to 5 years each
Replacement Gas Sensors
•Uncalibrated or Pre-Calibrated

CO Auto-Range Dilution
(for E4500 & E6000 only)
• Protects the CO sensor from over-saturation due to high CO
• Allows for CO measurements up to 10% (100,000 ppm)
• User selectable threshold level – recommended to set at CO
level slightly higher than the normal CO measuring range
when equipment is properly tuned and operating efficiently
• Do not leave the probe in stack for more than a few minutes
when the CO level is excessively high

Data Management
• Print in real-time when measuring or print saved data later
• Save data to internal memory (2000 tests)
• Automatic data saving & logging for user selectable time
intervals and test periods
• Recall saved data on color graphic display screen
• Transfer saved data with software to computer/tablet
• Free Apps to scan & email data with mobile device

Replacing Filter Cartridge
• Replace filter inside water trap as needed – when it has cracks,
has crusty layer of dust/particulates on it, or is wet
• Gently open water trap and remove inner plastic piece in top
half of water trap (wiggle this part as you pull out for easier
removal) to access filter cartridge
• Reassemble water trap & make sure black O-ring is properly in
place before twisting two halves of water trap back

Replacing Paper Roll
• Built-In Printer uses special non-fading paper rolls
• Pull up on plastic paper roll holder to open up printer
• Insert new paper roll with paper feeding out bottom of printer
• Push down on paper roll holder to clamp paper roll down

Clean Air Purging
• For longer test periods, perform a clean air purge every 30 to
60 minutes (purge for a few minutes or more)
• At the end of the test period, perform a clean air purge for at
least 10 minutes before completely turning off the analyzer
• When you press the on/off power button to turn off the
analyzer, the pump will continue to run for 20 seconds for a
final purge

Calibration
• Annual Factory Recalibration is recommended
• Never use mixed gas bottles for calibration
• O2 should go to zero with balance nitrogen gas bottles
• Do not use demand regulators for proper calibration
• Use vent line to prevent over-pressure to pump & sensors
