THE MAYANS
• The Mayan civilization occupied an extensive territory that
included the southeast of Mexico and the north of Central
America; it covered the entire Yucatan peninsula, all of
Guatemala and Belize, as well as the western part of Honduras
and El Salvador. The pre-Hispanic history of the Maya covers
almost 3,500 years, from the establishment of the first villages,
around 2000 BC. during his rule.
• The culture they had was monumental architecture, writing and
calendrical systems. They practiced fishing and agriculture a lot,
so they grew corn, beans, squash, cassava, chili and cotton,
among other species. and they could BUILD their little towns.
They also practiced hunting, they ate there, and the skins of the
animals formed their clothing. They lived in straw huts and low
adobe buildings covered with branches and thatch with roofs
separated from the walls with air inlets (not windows).
• Of their culture, today we can say that it still survives and
although not in its entirety in terms of customs, it does in
aspects such as the houses they use, such as the straw huts
they have used since their beginnings, which perhaps have
improved. Agriculture, the harvest of corn, wheat, beans.
Hunting is one of the Mayan cultures and is still practiced
consecutively.
