CYCLE
Presented by:

WHAT IS CARBON?
• A naturally abundant, non-
metallic element that occurs
in all organic compounds
and can be found in all
known life forms.
THE CARBON CYCLE
• Carbon cycles from the
atmosphere into plants and
living things.

• Carbon itself takes up

various forms: Glucose in
plants, Carbon Dioxide in the
air and Hydrocarbons
STEPS OF THE CARBON
CYCLE
• PHOTOSYNTHESIS
• DECOMPOSITION
• RESPIRATION
• COMBUSTION
PHOTOSYNTHESIS 02
• With Carbon Dioxide and
Hydrogen within the
atmosphere, plants
produce Oxygen and
Glucose
02

STEPS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS
CO2 H2O SUNLIGHT SUGAR &
OXYGEN
OXYGEN
RELEASES
GROWTH
OF
PLANT
01
• The process of decay or
breaking down of living
things

• Generates fossil fuel

• Anaerobic Decomposition
involves the bacteria
breaking down organic
matter into CO2 and Methane
DECOMPOSITION
RESPIRATION
• The act or process of breathing

• Inhaling of oxygen and the

exhaling of carbon dioxide

• Carbon Dioxide is released into

the atmosphere because of cell
respiration
COMBUSTION 02
• The burning of fossil fuel
to release energy
• Produces CO2 into the
atmosphere
• Contributes to greenhouse
effect
01
• The 'Carbon Cycle' is a way for
the earth to produce food and
renewable resources
• Has a key role in trapping heat
within the atmosphere
• The cycle is the earth's waste
disposal system
