Process of Air freight

• Shipping :
 Assembling the Shipment
 Collecting goods for consignee and preparing the packing materials and the packing list is important.
 Ordering Transport: Once the package has arrived, it will be sent to the freight forwarder warehouse and left at storage
ready for pick up.

• Forwarding Out :
 Goods are picked up following the order received.
 Prepare all relevant customs documents and clear for customs
  Consolidate all goods according to all regulations of necessity and prepare a master AWB (Air Waybill)
 Arrange transport to airline and inform receiving end of the incoming package

• Air Transport:
 Perform incoming and administration checks
 Sort good and documents.
 Prepare for warehouse storage.
 Load goods onto truck and dispatch.
Process of Air freight
• Forwarding In:
 Preparing customs documents,
 Arrange local pick up of the package from the airline.
 Arrange delivery to consignee with all relevant documentation and receive POD (Proof of Delivery)
• Consignment
 Receiving shipment 
 Unpacking goods
 Check goods with administration 
Air Freight Operations
• Shipper (or Consignor) – the one who requests service in transporting the cargo (source node of the
supply chain)
• Freight forwarder (or forwarder) –the forwarder typically arranges for the transportation of cargo
from the shipper’s warehouse, delivers (or has a contractor deliver) it to the departing airport.
• Carrier – The firm who provides the air delivery of cargo from the origin airport to the destination
airport.
• Ground Handler – An agent at an airport that physically handles the freight; this usually refers to
whenever freight is loaded, unloaded.
• Consignee – The receiving party that the goods are sent to (sink node of the supply chain).
Air Cargo Logistics India Scenario
• India’s total air cargo volumes reportedly grew to around 3.75m tones
in financial year 2019, a 7.5% growth rate.
• Delhi is the fastest air cargo hub in India, in terms of customs
clearance, with 75% of cargo cleared in under 48 hours. 
• The air freight market has been driven by cargo from the
pharmaceuticals, aerospace, retail and projects sectors, with the
major trade lanes being from India to the US, Middle East and Africa.
