Morning Praise

November 24, 2021

Call to
worship
Let us remember that we are
in the holy presence of the
Lord.

In the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
MORNING OFFERING
O Heavenly Father, our Lord and
God, we thank You for the
blessings You give us. As we do
our work today, guide, inspire
and protect us. Make us kind,
obedient and truthful like Your
Son, Jesus. With Mary, our
Blessed Mother, may we remain
loving children to You and to one
another and be responsible
citizens of our country. Amen.
Benedict
Arrives at
Monte Cassino
Let us continue our reflection on
the life of St. Benedict

The holy man went to another place,
but he still had the same enemy; now
he found the Lord of Evil openly
fighting against him and his battles
became harder. Benedict came to a
former army camp which is called
Cassino. It is situated on the side of a
high mountain.
This mountain holds the little town in its
lap but rises strongly above it for four to
five kilometers and its top seems to touch
the sky. High up on it, there was a very
old temple where the country people,
adored the god Apollo, like the ancient
pagans. All around, trees had grown up.
They were kept for the worship of evil
spirits. At the time, the people of that area
were not Christians. That foolish crowd
still labored senselessly to offer wrongful
sacrifice in the sacred woods.
As soon as he arrived the man of God
broke the statue to pieces, knocked
over the altar, cut down the sacred
woods. In the temple of Apollo, he
built an oratory of St. Martin and at
the place where Apollo’s altar had
been he built an oratory to St. John
the Baptist, and there he continued
teaching and called the people around
to Christian faith. Today it is now
“The Abbey of Monte Cassino”
Reflection
• What distracts you from
God?
• Are you willing to give
up that thing or habit?
Prayer to St. Benedict
God, our Father, You blessed St.
Benedict both in grace and in
name; through his intercession,
may we be defended from all the
snares of the devil; may we find
strength and comfort at the hour of
death; and may we rejoice in Your
love and protection today and every
day of our life. We make our prayer
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymn to St. Benedict
St. Scholastica and St.
Benedict,

Pray for us!

Mary with her loving Son,
 bless us each and
everyone

That in all things, God

may be glorified!
Tumayo nang tuwid at ilagay
ang kanang kamay sa dibdib.
Awitin natin nang buong
puso ang ating pambansang
awit.
Panatang Makabayan

Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas,

aking lupang sinilangan,
tahanan ng aking lahi;
kinukupkop ako at tinutulungang
maging malakas, masipag at marangal.
Dahil mahal ko ang Pilipinas,
diringgin ko ang payo
ng aking mga magulang,
susundin ko ang tuntunin ng paaralan,
tutuparin ko ang tungkulin
ng mamamayang makabayan:
naglilingkod, nag-aaral at nagdarasal
nang buong katapatan.
Iaalay ko ang aking buhay,
pangarap, pagsisikap
sa bansang Pilipinas.
