What is a spotlight?
• A spotlight is a light designed to direct a narrow intense beam of light on a small image
What is Side Lighting?
• Side Lighting is light falls on a subject at roughly 90 degrees to the camera. This means that one
side of a subject will be lit and the other side will be in darkness.
What is Backlighting?
• Backlighting involves positioning the main light source for a photograph behind the main subject.
What is soft/diffused lighting

• Diffused Light, or soft light, is light that’s filtered by something. Sunlight through a sheer curtain is
diffused. Light from behind a lampshade is diffused compared to the direct light of a bare bulb.
The lampshade softens and scatters the light.
